Days After: Your Way or Not
Apr. 10th, 2019 10:20 amFor those who don't know it, I live in Israel. And there was an election. Like all elections now, and perhaps for all times, there was a lot of hullabaloo and accusations, predictions and anger.
Now the results are in and some are happy, some sad, some angry, some bitter, some satisfied, and some worried.
I'm not telling you who I voted for, or how I feel about the whole issue, as I have come to believe those things are best kept private, revealed only to a select few. AND my whole impetus for this blog is about keeping a journal. And the purpose of the journal is discovering who you are now, as well as finding a path to the best you.
So, whatever your reaction to an event such as an election, or similar, where there is a win/lose situation: write.
In a situation like this just do stream of consciousness, and release all your emotions, negative or positive. Don't ask yourself questions or try and discover anything at first, simply write, write, write. Let it all out, let it go, until you feel more in control.
Then, when you feel yourself quieted down, begin to ask yourself this question:
How should I respond to this win or loss to bring about the greatest benefit to everyone?
What can I do now that will result in a positive change?
If your first response to that question is gloat or scream you are probably on the wrong tract. Neither is going to help make the situation better. Gloating is just cruel, and screaming? That won't help make the loss better for you or anyone else. If you are still in the screaming stage, write more, and more and more. Then return to the question: How should I respond to this win or lose to bring about the greatest benefit to everyone? What can I do now that will result in a positive change?
The important thing, at least in my opinion, is not respond with anger or conceit. It is to find an action that will result in positive change.
At least that is what I will attempt to do.
