Keeping Your Child Happy
Jan. 6th, 2019 08:17 amEach of us comes into the world with certain basic needs; food, protection from the elements, and love. As we age we also need other items such as exercise (which we naturally take on as children), respect, and finally, the sense that we are valuable.
Without these foundations, physical and emotional, we cannot grow healthy.
Nor can we remain healthy today if these basic needs aren't met.
When the child in you has all its needs met, it will look about the world in wonder and awe. It will find the world full of amazement and beauty.
If the child in you is not in that state, cannot stop and gasp in amazement, then the child is in need.
Sometimes the need is quite evident. You are hungry. You are tired. You have lost someone who is dear to you. You are in health or financial crisis. Other times you are feeling low and can't pinpoint why.
Sit down with your journal beside you. Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Relax and see the thoughts that float to your head. Let that little child's voice fill you. Is your child happy or sad? Relaxed or afraid?
If your child is joyful and secure, write down what your child is wondering or amazed about. Draw a picture for the child or write a poem, as simple or complex as you will.
If though your child is in a negative state, if what drifts to your mind are fears are worried, write that down as well.
And then write down how you can help your child. Solutions will vary from a nice hot bath to seeing a mental health counselor, or financial adviser.
You are worth the investment.
